DVD Review: Utopia – Series Oneutopia2-e1363538613962In case you missed this top class UK thriller when it was shown on TV it is now availble to own on DVD/Blu-ray.

Utopia has been billed as the ‘thriller of our times’ and to be honest that does sum it up pretty well.

The series follows a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel.
The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century and the group soon find themselves targeted by a shadowy organisation known only as The Network

The group of everyday people concerned were previously unconnected and yet now their lives are in each others hands.

The Network pursue them doggedly and new conspiracy theories come to light as the story progresses.

Dennis Kelly (Pulling, Matilda) has produced a fine piece of original UK drama here. The cast offers up a proverbial who’s who of acting talent.

This includes Paul Higgins (In The Loop, The Thick Of It), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits), Alexandra Roach (The Iron Lady). There are alos great performances by veteran stars James Fox and Geraldine James.Utopia3Utopia is a rare combination of thriller, excitement, humour and much more over its six episode first series run.

On the extras front we get: Dennis Kelly explaining the world of Utopia, a piece on director Marc Munden, stunt scene analysis and deleted scenes.

Fame highly recommend Utopia and suggest you view it a few times to fully see the storyline arc at its very best.

Utopia Series 1 is available now from all good retailers.
RRP £19.99 (DVD), £24.99 (Blu-ray). Certificate 18.
